Which is best informatica or datastage

You probably only shared a few of them with us, right? Did you get any benchmark for both software on how long it would take to process data based on the amount of data vs. I have no experience with DataStage, but Informatica has had not sure if this is still true the reputation of being fairly slow as soon as you have complex transformation.

On the other hand, Informatica has a nice monitoring capability and version support which DataStage does not have based on your email? What are the main elements functionality, performance, flexibility, maintenance, scalability, platform support, remote monitoring…. I mean "sending an email" can not be high on the list of priorities, you could make "any" software or product that can place data file, row in a database table….

But being able to monitor the progress, recover from failure, use a cluster of servers… is is lot tougher. Did you look at other players in the market? Why DataStage vs. They are others better? DataStage: Job sessions can be monitored using Informatica Classes. Good luck with selecting the best ETL tool for your needs. Please see previous appends as to my thoughts on evaluting these two tools at such a superficial level.

The information contained in the answers to various questions is not correct in many of the cases shown. It appears that you found an older product comparison sheet using previous version of both. In general, this is a bad way to compare ETL tools. Checklist comparisons of ETL tools does not tell you how easy a feature is to use, how well it is implemented, or what limitations there might be.

You want to know whether you can do lookup caching and avoid going back and forth to the database as well as direct uncached lookups which would be needed if you are looking up non-reusable values in a very large data set the cache would overflow. If phrased as a yes or no question like the above then three different vendors would all say "yes" and you would be misled. Vendor B can do the same. However, vendor B can only return one column value from the lookup.

You would have to do two lookups, or build this as a join rather than a lookup. Vendor C can do uncached lookups. To do cached lookups you have to drop into scripting language, write the small line script that calls the lookup function and then add to a cache you define in the function. Then import this into the tool and it appears as a transform you can use. Unless you know to ask the right questions and phrase them appropriately, written responses and checklist comparisons are meaningless.

In datastage we can do comparing immediate previous record. One has to code for it but it can be done. In datastage we can capture the rejected records.

Both datastage and Informatica can read and write to a XML source. Debugging facility is possible in Informatica. In fact the debugger in informatica is much more user friendly compared to datastage. This is one of the problems with "comparing" LIKE functionality. Hi, Milind has started the thread in And we are in As software vendors come up with new features in every new version of it, it is better to update the entire list what milind has provided with current features..

In last three years many major changes has been taken place in datastage technology. Hence this is more user friendly now. What about a line level debugger for the transformer stage? And ability to separate metadata from its transformer stage.

It still looks like multiple products put together. Is Informatica that bad? Some correction to Informatica parts. Data Stage I know too little to say anything. Not Supported Informatica has a built in debugger in its mapping designer interface. Not Available Depends what this means. It allows you to monitor, build, and run smart Data Pipelines at scale from a single point of login. It also allows you to manage and monitor all your Data Pipelines from a single pane of glass.

It offers large-scale Data Processing with real-time computation. It also helps you minimize processing time, latency, and cost through batch processing and autoscaling.

This allows your business to focus on insight instead of getting stuck with Data Preparation. It provides users with jargon and a coding-free environment that has a point-and-click interface. This enables simple Data Integration and Data Processing. It includes Linux data storage, execution, and licensing. We, however, would like to have some cost reduction. We have leveraged Informatica for big enterprises but not for small and medium enterprises because it is a very costly product as compared to other products. We propose this solution only for enterprise customers. For small to medium enterprises, we would propose the Microsoft solution. Its licensing is currently bundle-wise. It should be features-wise and not bundle-wise.
